Greg Hands welcomes new employment statistics which show that wages are rising and jobs are being created

Greg Hands MP welcomes the Conservative-majority Government’s continued determination to deliver a better, more prosperous future for working people across Britain - and as today’s figures confirm that’s exactly what the Long-Term Economic Plan is delivering.

Commenting on new employment statistics which show that wages are rising and jobs are being created, Member of Parliament for Chelsea and Fulham, and Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Greg Hands said: “With wages up 2.9 per cent over the year and inflation low, working people have received the fastest real terms rise in over a decade. At 73.5 per cent, the employment rate is the highest it has been. But we still face risks both from the global economy and from those at home who would undermine our economic security, hike taxes, and nationalise industry.

“I welcome our Conservative-majority Government’s continued determination to support firms, increase training, and provide more free childcare for working parents, as well as introducing a National Living Wage. This is all part of our Long-Term Economic Plan, which is enabling us to deliver a more secure future for working people in Britain.”
