Petition for a temporary bridge

Following the sudden closure of Hammersmith Bridge in April 2019, I am petitioning Hammersmith & Fulham Council and Transport for London (TfL) to prioritise its repair and re-opening, and while the works are carried out for a temporary motor bridge to be erected to include buses and emergency blue light vehicles.

Five miles of the north bank of the River Thames is currently uncrossable by motor vehicles. This is an unprecedented situation for such a densely populated part of London. With the repair works estimated to take three years, a temporary solution is necessary to provide access to cross the river for buses and emergency blue light vehicles and to ease congestion across South West London.

We the undersigned note that Hammersmith Bridge, owned by Hammersmith & Fulham Council, is currently closed to motor vehicles and demand that a temporary motor bridge be erected while the repair works to re-open the bridge is carried out.
